Removal of forms on the future Reagent Building has been completed and the installation of the building shell is now in progress. This facility will be used as a warehouse during the construction phase.

Construction of the MacLeod High Tailings (MHT) seepage collection system is underway with construction of the excess material containment cell. The MHT seepage collection system will collect run-off water and ground-water from the historical tailings and Greenstone Mine will treat the water prior to discharge into Kenogamisis Lake.

Planned activities for the week of January 24th include Tree Clearing, continuing to advance the Earthworks within the Kenogamisis and S4 Aggregate Pits and the Tailings Management Facility Quarry, stripping and excavating in preparation for foundation work, drilling and blasting within the Process Plant Site area, the Highway 11 Realignment, the installation of power lines, pouring concrete and road construction.

What's coming next:

Greenstone Mine will be conducting scheduled blasts within the Project Area and within the Highway 11 Realignment Area. Blasting will occur on a regular basis during the construction and operations phases of the Project. Blasting Notices are posted on the website homepage.

‘No Trespassing’ signs within the Barton Bay Trail area due to work activities being undertaken for the construction of the MacLeod High Tailings (MHT) seepage collection system have been installed for everyone’s safety as this work continues. The Rosedale Point Air Monitoring Station located between the Rosedale Point Road and the Barton Bay Trail parking lot and the MacLeod Provincial Park Air Monitoring Station are installed, while electrical connection and commissioning will continue.

Earthworks in the Kenogamisis Pit located North of Highway 11 behind Between Bridges Inn continues with loading and hauling of pit run material to the future Process Plant Site (PPS) area and the future Access Road, while tree clearing activities are complete, tree removal for the Kenogamisis Pit expansion will continue. Installation of the structural steel support frame for the future Administration Building foundation is complete with stiffener installation and welding underway. As the removal of forms for the future Reagent Building is complete, the erection of the building is now in progress. Excavation and stripping of the future PPS footprint will continue. Backfilling between the future Truck Shop and future Mill buildings will continue. Drilling in the future Power Plant area remains halted pending blasting. Stripping and backfilling work continues within the Plant Site Access Road area which will become the future permanent Main Site Access Road. Concrete pours for the future Plant Site Fuel depot and sewage treatment plant are complete while stripping of the site areas will continue. Drilling and blasting within the future Equipment Assembly area is underway. On-going hauling of material from the S4 Aggregate Pit to the future Tailings Management Facility (TMF) area continues. Construction of sedimentation ponds for water management and excavation and backfilling work for construction of the Goldfield Creek Diversion dyke and channel will continue. Tree clearing activities within the Lahtis Road area in preparation for the construction of the TMF will continue. Communications Tower mounting of tower communications equipment continues. Drilling and blasting within the future Highway 11 Realignment will continue from west to east towards the HONI right of way, as excavation work and placement of materials continues towards Michael Power Boulevard. Temporary Power Line work will continue with the installation of power lines along the future Plant Site Access Road and the future TMF Access Road and with the installation of power poles between the future Administration and future Truck Shop buildings.

The Tree Clearing, Earthworks within the Kenogamisis Pit, S4 Aggregate Pits and the TMF Quarry, the installation of power lines, the drill and blast program and road construction involve the use of heavy equipment such as zoom booms, cranes, drills, excavators, skidders, wood chippers, bulldozers, tri-axle haul trucks, articulated trucks and loaders. For health and safety reasons, we wish to caution the general public to limit non-essential traffic within the Hardrock Road and the Temporary Effluent Water Treatment area and to follow and obey posted signs across the Project area.

The safety of our employees, contractors and the general public is paramount as we construct the Greenstone Mine.
