Pre-Leach Thickener start of steel.

Planned activities for the week of April 24th include ongoing earthworks within the Tailings Management Facility (TMF), steel erection, interior concrete, piping, electrical and equipment installation for various buildings within the Plant Site area and drilling, blasting and hauling of rock from the open pit for construction of roads and TMF.

Greenstone Mine wishes to advise the public that open pit activities are underway.Greenstone Mine will be conducting scheduled blasts within the Open Pit. A link to Blasting Notices is located on the company website homepage.

A portion of the Barton Bay Trail was reopened for the winter months, however work around the highway realignment work has resumed. Trail users must obey the ‘No Trespassing’ signs that have been installed for everyone’s safety. We expect the trail will be closed soon because of spring conditions.

At the Process Plant east end, interior work on the installation of the ball mills is in progress with electrical and piping work continuing. At the west end, electrical and piping work is ongoing including concrete for the gold room and freshwater tank installation. Steel erection work at the Pre-leach Thickener continues. At the crushers, electrical, piping and HVAC equipment installation including the apron feeder and Secondary Crusher main components continues. Interior steel continues at the High Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR) as well as electrical work on cable trays and lighting installation. The Ore Storage Dome geodesic dome structure erection continues. Conveyor preassembly and installation are ongoing as the transfer tower erection continues. All e-rooms are now installed and all overhead cranes are now commissioned. At the Power Plant, ongoing work includes construction of the control room, engine exhaust ducting and pulling of electrical cable with radiator system installation close to complete. At the Truck Shop, work nears completion on the offices along with piping and electrical. The lube system is ready for commissioning. HVAC and communications systems near completion. Demolition of the old MTO Patrol Yard is well advanced. Work on the highway continues with removal of the surcharge.

At the TMF, earthworks on the dam walls with rock from operations is ongoing.

Mine mobile equipment components continue to arrive. Work is well advanced on the expansion of Pond B1 and will start shortly on Pond B2.

The public are reminded to continue to obey all posted signs across the Project area for everyone’s health and safety. Construction in and around Greenstone Mine involves the use of heavy equipment such as haul trucks, zoom booms, cranes, drills, excavators, skidders, bulldozers, tri-axle haul trucks, articulated trucks and loaders. The extensive project work over the last year has significantly changed the landscape resulting in many new hazards. For health and safety reasons, do not enter any unauthorized or active work areas within the Project footprint unless authorized to do so.

The safety of our employees, contractors and the general public is paramount as we construct the Greenstone Mine.
